PURPOSE: An apparatus for preventing car theft is provided to prevent the car theft by making a car not be started, if an identification(ID) code of a cellular phone is not equal to an ID registered in a car controlling device by applying the cellular phone ID to the car controlling device, when a start up button of the cellular phone is pressed by connecting the cellular phone with the car controlling device using a Curl code or using an infrared communication system. CONSTITUTION: A cellular phone comprises a key input circuit(114), a controller(110), and a first connector(118). The key input circuit generates car start up key signals. The controller controls the cellular phone to deliver identifications(IDs) of the cellular phone and a car controlling device. The first connector connects a cable for delivering the IDs. An apparatus for preventing car theft by using the cellular phone comprises a second connector(120), an executive control unit(ECU)(122), a relay(126), and the car controlling device(128). The second connector is connected with the first connector through the cable. The ECU examines whether an ID code applied from the second connector is equal to a preset ID code. If the two codes are equal, the ECU outputs a relay driving signal. The relay supplies battery power to an engine controller by the relay driving signal. The car controlling device is composed of the engine controller. The engine controller receives the battery power through the relay, and starts an engine according to a control signal of the ECU.
