PURPOSE: A method for controlling focus/tracking servos in an optical disk system is provided to compensate focusing/tracking errors caused by a scratch while playing back a disk. CONSTITUTION: In the playing back mode of a disk, a first optical amount picked up by a main beam and a second optical amount picked up by two side beams are detected as current values. The current values for the first/second optical amounts are converted into voltage values. A focus error is detected by a first voltage value, and a tracking error is detected by a second voltage value. On detecting the focus error, a focusing gain is outputted for corresponding to the focus error. On detecting the tracking error, a tracking gain is outputted for corresponding to the tracking error. A focusing servo operation is performed corresponding to the focusing gain while performing a tracking servo operation corresponding to the tracking gain.
