PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve precision of a lookup table to be used for converting a picture from an inputted color space to a device depending print engine color space by inquiring to a picture file including information on a picture to be printed to decide the distribution of colors in a picture color space. SOLUTION: In a printing system B, the picture file 18 including a colorimetric digital data decides data distribution in a color space with respect to a designated picture inquired by a printer controller 30 before conversion processing. It is possible to decide which color exists in the picture, the density and the specific color quantity of the pictures. Next, data received by this inquiry are used with an instruction from a user input block 32 or a color control block 4 to generate a signal to be used for selectively actuating the node of a color space converting block 20.
