PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent work process of image forming from being interrupted or made complicated due to fullness of a memory capacity on the way of input of image data with respect to a digital image forming device provided with an electronic sorting function which stores image data of plural pages in the memory as a digital signal and sorts this data in the page order to form an image. SOLUTION: To prevent exceeding the memory capacity in a digital copying machine 100, the magnification of image data of a digital signal is varied according to the remaining capacity of a memory part 102. If magnification with while image data can be read into the memory part 102 is equal to or higher than a reduction limit magnification at electronic sorting, a scanner part 101 is controlled by this read magnification, and the magnification is varied to this read magnification to temporarily store image data, and a copy is outputted with a set copying magnification.
