<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type display device whose reliability is not reduced because of a change in a using environment, as for the projection type display device using transmission type liquid crystal light bulbs. SOLUTION: The device is provided with liquid crystal light bulbs 4R, 4G and 4B which are arranged in a housing so as to modulate light made incident from a lamp 2 and emit the light, and cooling fans 10 and 12 for cooling the inside of the housing. The device is also provided with a temperature detecting element 30 for detecting a temperature near the liquid crystal bulb 4G, and a controller 8 for correcting the temperature detected y the temperature detecting element 30 based on a prescribed temperature correction value T0, and executing the control of the rotating speed of the fans 10 and 12 and the on/off control of a power source 26 for the lamp 2 based on the corrected temperature.</p> |
