PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make a user select another printer connected to a network and prevent print efficiency from lowering by obtaining information of a print job spooled in a queue of a host system from a printer and providing the information for the user. SOLUTION: A printer 9 when receiving a print job 23 from a host system 1 remotely operates the host system 1 having sent the print job 23 and obtains queue information 29 of a print job 16 spooled in the queue 14 of the host system 1. Then when the printer 9 receives a print job 19 from a host system 5, a queue information acquiring process performs operation similar to the remote operation done for the host system 1 to obtain queue information 32, spooled in a queue 17, and store it in a main storage device 10. A panel input/ output process 30 analyzes the queue information 32, counts print jobs, and then adds the count result to the number of print jobs which is already displayed to display the sum.
