PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a screen of uniform brightness without irregular luminance when a screen is displayed by using illuminating light frog a light source, by disposing a light source having a light-emitting part formed among lighttransmitting regions so that the light-emitting part emits illuminating light to the front face of the liquid crystal display device. SOLUTION: The light source 20 disposed on the front face of a liquid crystal display device 10 has plural light-transmitting regions d corresponding to plural pixel regions D of the liquid crystal display device 10, and has a light-emitting part 22 formed among the light-transmitting regions so that the light-emitting part 22 emits illuminating light to the front face of the liquid crystal display device. In this method, the light-emitting part 22 is formed like a mesh corresponding to the space among plural pixel regions arranged in the row direction and to the space among plural pixel regions arranged in the column direction of the liquid crystal display device 10. The light-emitting part 22 is formed on a transparent base film 21 made of a glass or heat-resistant resistant resin, and the regions separated by the mesh of the light-emitting part 22 on the base film 21 form plural light-transmitting regions d corresponding to plural pixel regions D of the liquid crystal display device 10.
