A splatter screen (10) is releasably retained to cookware (40) to prevent splatter of hot food items. A rim of the splatter screen (20) is releasably retained by the rim of the cookware (44). Spring clips (26) may be applied to the splatter screen for retention of a cover (50). A grip portion of the splatter screen (24) is retained by the handle of the cookware (42).
