A food waste treating device capable of efficiently treating food waste, called garbage, through degradation by effective microbes, wherein garbage (10) is shred by a disposer (2), the shred garbage (10) is carried to a drain-off column (4) through a water-flow pipe (3), the drained-off garbage (10) is compressed by a compressing unit (5) for volume reduction, the compressed garbage (10) is charged into an agitating tank (6) where it is agitated together with biochips (60), stored in advance, by agitating rods (62), a malodorous air generated by fermented garbage (10) is deodorized by a circulation deodorizing unit and is carried back into the agitating tank, and waste water separated and discharged in transit from the disposer (2) to the compressing unit (5) is purified by a purifying device (8). |
