METHOD FOR INDUCING APOTOSIS WITH ION BEAM

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for exterminating exclusively cells at a specific site, performing the fragmentation of DNA in high efficiency, usable for the resolution of the mechanism of apotosis of vegetable and animal cells and applicable for the treatment of diseases, etc. SOLUTION: An arbitrary biotissue e.g. cells of an animal such as hamster or vegetable such as corn is irradiated with an ion beam having an LET(linear energy transfer) of 14-2,000 keV/μm to induce apotosis on the biotissue. Preferably, an arbitrary biotissue is subjected to controlled radiation with an ion beam having an LET of 14-2,000 keV/μm within a range of >=10μm diameter to induce apotosis.
