PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve the versatility of a fitting device to put containers of different diameter together by using a carrier having a single longitudinal pitch between openings, and automatically attaching the carrier to the container group through a drum capable of regulating the distance between a pair of jaw parts at the closed position. SOLUTION: A carrier 10 consisting of a flexible plastic sheet and having a plurality of, for example, six openings for every package is guided to a drum 40 through a fitting device 30 and a guide plate 32, and a drum 40 is rotated above the group of a plurality of containers of the first diameter. A single package 15 is obtained by attaching the carrier 10 in a condition where a plurality of, for example, six containers 5 as the group are put together. When the group of other containers 5 of the second diameter is packaged, the distance between a pair of jaw parts of the drum 40 is regulated, the carrier 10 of the containers of the second diameter is positioned to the fitting device 30.
