PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent disadvantages resulting from the difference between the internal and external pressures of light source devices for simplified endoscopes despite a watertight structure and even upon any variation in the relationship between both pressures, by varying the internal pressure in pursuit of the external pressure. SOLUTION: In order to supply illumination light to simplified endoscopes having on their operation part 2 the incidence end of a light guide 9 for illumination light transmission, a light source device 30 for simplified endoscopes is separably mountable on the operation part 2 and has a watertight structure. Vent passages 63 to 65 are defined to connect the inside and outside of the light source device 30, and porous members 61 and 66 permeable by gas and impermeable by water are disposed to close the vent passages 63 to 65.
