PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enhance drying performance while evading damage due to heat caused by contact of small tableware with a heater by some rare accident, in a tableware washing and drying unit. SOLUTION: This tableware washing and drying unit 1 washes tableware stored inside a washing and drying chamber 4 with a required temperature of water and drys them. A heater guard 10 is formed into a shape approximated to a plane shape of a heater 9 to prevent the whole of the heater 9 from being concealed exceeding requirement by the heater guard 10. An essential function of the heater guard 10, that is, avoidance from damage due to heat caused by contact of small tableware with the heater 9 by some rare accident, is realized, and deficiency is also prevented from being generated by the presence of the heater guard 10.
