PURPOSE: A method for preventing the flooding of a spark plug is provided to secure the smooth restart of an engine by exhausting fuel adhered on the spark plug by using cranking pressure by blocking the spray of the fuel when restarting the engine after stopping the engine by error. CONSTITUTION: When the temperature of cooling water(a°C) is under -15°C, an ECU detects the temperature of the cooling water in the off state of a starting spark switch. Then, the value of the temperature is obtained by subtracting the temperature of cooling water in the on state of the starting spark switch from the temperature of cooling water in the off state for deciding if the value is under 5°C. If the value is under 5°C, the ECU recognizes a restart for adjusting a WF(weighting factor) of fuel spraying amount for 0.7. Then, the fuel spraying amount becomes 0.7Xb. After deciding the fuel spraying amount, the ECU detects the output voltage of a TPS(throttle position sensor). If the output voltage of the TPS is over 3.5V, the fuel spraying amount is adjusted for 0 to prevent the flooding of a spark plug. If the spark plug is flooded beforehand, the fuel remained in a combustor or adhered on the spark plug is exhausted by using the cranking pressure of the engine. If the output voltage of the TPS is under 3.5V, the ECU sends a fuel spraying command for starting the engine.
