PURPOSE: A charge coupled device is provided to improve a charge transmitting efficiency of the charge coupled device by uniformly forming an effective surface of a charge transmitting channel. CONSTITUTION: A charge coupled device comprises a plurality of photo diode areas(52) which are separated from each other by a predetermined distance so as to form a matrix shape. A plurality of vertical charge transmitting areas(51) are vertically provided between the photo diode areas(52). The vertical charge transmitting areas(51) have a diffusion area. A channel stop layer(53) is formed around the photo diode areas(52) and the vertical charge transmitting areas(51). The channel stop layer(52) has a reduction area and electrically separates each areas from each other.
