PURPOSE: A method for implementing a contention resolution in a mobile communication system is provided to prevent an unnecessary power consumption, deterioration of a system performance and interference due to the resolution according to the contention, by constituting a mobile identity using a preamble signal and physical of an access shot when a plurality of mobile stations try to perform a random access. CONSTITUTION: Mobile stations allocate mobile IDs different from each other to physicals different from each other, and then try to do the random access. A base station casts an access acknowledgment signal(ACK) into the mobile station of a mobile ID which corresponds to received one of random access signals of the different mobile IDs. The mobile ID is comprised of a preamble signature, an access slot and a random number. The preamble signature, access slot and random number are comprised of 4bits, 3bits and 9bits, respectively.
