PURPOSE: An apparatus for automatically controlling a refrigerant flow of an air conditioner is provided to automatically control the flow of refrigerant when converting cooling and heating modes, thereby obtaining optimal heat exchange cycle. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for automatically controlling a refrigerant flow of an air conditioner includes a fixing valve body(111) formed with a first decompressing hole(112) coupled with an air channel(103) between heat exchangers of indoor and outdoor units for automatically control a flow of refrigerant introduced into the heat exchangers when converting cooling and heating modes, a moving valve body(121) formed with a second decompression hole(122) coupled with an air channel for having a control function for the flow the refrigerant required for cooling and heating mode and a decompression function by contact and non-contact with the fixing valve body, a fixing element for fixing the fixing valve body on the air channel, and a moving distance limiting element(106) for limiting the movement of the moving valve body within a predetermined distance.
