METHOD FOR CONTROLLING AUTOMATIC POWER-OFF FOR TELEVISION

PURPOSE: A method for controlling an automatic power-off for a television is provided to make a user watch conveniently a television by storing a channel and current time into a database when the user watches a television, and by automatically converting into the related channel when a history that the user watched the television on different channel since the current time by referring a previously stored history data at a no signal status. CONSTITUTION: A method for controlling an automatic power-off for a television includes a first through fourth steps. The first step is to store a current channel information and watching time at an active mode into a database as a watching history of a user. The second step is to determine whether a broadcasting signal is applied or not. The third step is to search if there is another channel that the user watched a television since the current time by referring the stored history data when the broadcasting signal is not detected for a predetermined time on the current channel. The fourth step is to convert into a stand-by mode by turning off the power of the television when there is no other channel that the user watched, and to automatically convert into the related channel when there is another channel that the user watched,
