PURPOSE: An apparatus for selecting multi-sound and a selecting method thereof are provided to demodulate an AM mono audio signal according to a SECAM system and a FM mono audio signal according to a PAL/SECAM broadcasting selectively. CONSTITUTION: An apparatus for selecting multi-sound includes a SECAM(Sequential Couleur A Memoire) code detector(31), a display(32), a key input(33), a PAL(Phase Alternation by Line) FM(Phase modulation) demodulator(34) and SECAM AM (magnitude modulation) demodulator(35) and a microcomputer(36). The SECAM code detector(31) detects SECAM code from received broadcasting signal. The display(32) enables a user to select one of PAL FM and SECAM AM. The PAL FM demodulator(34) and SECAM AM demodulator(35) demodulates the received audio signal according to selection. The microcomputer(36) controls overall system.
