PURPOSE: A receiver capable of displaying signals having different display format and different frame rate and a method therefor are provided to simultaneously reproduce a standard image signal and a high resolution image signal by using signal generator which generates first and second vertical synchronous signals. CONSTITUTION: A receiver has a signal generator(108) for generating a first vertical synchronous signal of a high resolution image, a first field discriminating signal, a second vertical synchronous signal and a second field discriminating signal. The receiver also includes a first display processor(106) for processing the high resolution image to a high resolution display format according to the first vertical synchronous signal and the first field discriminating signal. The receiver has a second display processor(110) for providing a standard image signal. |
