PURPOSE: An air conditioner and a method for controlling operation thereof are provided to prevent all air conditioners from being a non-action state by outputting the cooling operation signal of an artificial intelligence to a micro computer on an indoor unit of the other chamber from a micro computer on an outer unit and sensing the cooling operation of the artificial intelligence in a first chamber. CONSTITUTION: An upper limit and a lower limit temperature to condition the indoor air with a first to a third temperature setting device(212,232,252) are set up in a microcomputer(110) on an outer unit side. Next, the outer unit side microcomputer transmits a signal to the first microcomputer on the indoor unit side. After a certain time, it is judged whether the outer unit side microcomputer receives the signal from the indoor unit side first microcomputer. Then after a certain time, it is judged whether it is an artificial intelligence operation, and when it is the artificial intelligence operation, it is judged whether the indoor temperature of A chamber is more than x temperature. Accordingly, when it is more than x temperature, the cooling artificial intelligence operation is performed.
