PURPOSE: A receiving region automatic selecting method of an RDS(radio data system) receiving set is provided to automatically switch a receiving region to another region of near local broadcasting in case that it goes beyond the receiving region during RDS receiving. CONSTITUTION: In a receiving region automatic selecting method of an RDS receiving set in which an FM signal and an RDS signal transmitted from a broadcasting station is received and demodulated, switching information to a local broadcast station and alternative frequency information on a receiving frequency of the corresponding broadcast station are detected from the demodulated signal, and in case that the signal state of the received frequency is bad, the receiving broadcast station is switched by the alternative frequency, the receiving state of the received broadcast signal is detected and if the receiving state is judged to be bad, the alternative frequency is checked for the corresponding broadcast channel to judge whether there is a receivable channel(S30,S32,S34,S36). Upon judgment, in case that there is no receivable channel, switching information to a local broadcast station is searched from an extension network data of the RDS data to judge whether there is a local broadcast station that can be switched(S42,S44,S46). Upon judgement, in case that there is a receivable channel, a receiving frequency is set to the frequency that can receive the corresponding local broadcasting channel to thereby automatically switch the receiving region(S38).
