PURPOSE: A defrosting operation method of an air conditioner in heating mode is provided to improve the defrosting efficiency by performing the defrosting operation according to the temperature of a heat exchanger of an outdoor unit. CONSTITUTION: A defrosting operation method of an air conditioner in heating mode includes the steps of measuring total time taken for defrosting operation when the defrosting operation is performed under the control of a microcomputer in heating mode, comparing the measured total tome with a first time preset in the microcomputer, releasing the defrosting mode and performing the heating mode when the measured defrosting operation time is not over the preset first time, and performing a temperature adjustment procedure for maintaining a temperature of a heat exchanger of an outdoor unit between a first temperature and a second temperature preset in the microcomputer when the defrosting operation time is not over the preset first time.
