PURPOSE: A method for displaying reception time of a short message in a mobile communication terminal is provided to allow a user to recognize a correct reception time thereof though the terminal is used in various regions where a time differential exists, thereby offering a user convenience for using the terminal. CONSTITUTION: If a key input is detected(232), a message menu is displayed on a displayer(234). When a selection input for setting mode of reception time type occurs(236), a menu according to the setting of the reception time is displayed(238). It is determined which item is selected by a user(240). If a menu of a message transmission time has been selected, a mode for displaying the reception time is set, so that the reception time for a received and stored message is displayed as the transmission time(242). If a menu of a message reception time has been selected, the mode for displaying the reception time is set, so that the reception time for a received and stored message is displayed as the reception time(244)
