<p>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To realize a method for avoiding buffer overflow by which a buffer overflow can be avoided in spite of decreasing a device scale. SOLUTION: An ATM switch section 11 controls an input cell stream from a buffer to a format conversion section 16 (1-N) so that the transfer rate is controlled to a cell rate on a transmission line, and more concretely, the read of the stream is periodically stopped so that the rear cell rate from the ATM switch section 11 does not exceed the cell rate on the transmission line. Functions to control outputs of ATM switches distributed to an output interface and means to transmit the outputs can be omitted and a buffer overflow can be avoided while reducing the device scale.</p> |
