PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electric wire connecting device which has a strip gauge capable of recognizing the total length of a peeling margin without being affected by the ambient environment and is not enlarged by providing the strip gauge on a ridge line between two adjacent faces except for the bottom face of an outer shell. SOLUTION: A strip gauge 5 is formed as a quarter cylindrical recess on a ridge line between an electric wire insertion face 2 and a side face 11 adjacent to it of an outer shell 9, and it is arranged in the axial direction from a side face 10 adjacent to both the electric wire insertion face 2 and the side face 11 toward the opposite face side and is provided near an electric wire insertion hole 3 as the recess for the total length of the peeling margin of an electric wire cover. When one strip gauge 5 is provided on a terminal board 1 in spite of the narrow ambient environment at the time of the electric wire connecting work, the total length of the peeling margin can be easily recognized from a wide range. Since the strip gauge 5 is provided as the recess on the ridge line of the terminal board 1, the total length of the peeling margin can be easily recognized by the shadow effect of the strip gauge 5 itself even when brightness is insufficient.
