PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inhibit the generation and condensation of a sulfide ion as a cause for corrosion and thereby, protect a chain body against the corrosion to enhance its durability by arranging a removing means for a corrosion factor sticking to the chain body on the return path side of the chain body with flights for scraping together sludge which is settled at the bottom of a pond. SOLUTION: When a solid matter contained in foul water introduced into a sedimentation pond 1 is settled at the bottom 11 of the pond 1 as sludge, the chain body 20 of the sludge scraper 2 is driven circulating. Further, a large number of flights 27 fitted to the chain body 20 are moved to scrape together sludge to the sludge pit 12 side while the flights 27 proceed along the bottom 11 of the pond 1 during their foward travel and the sludge is removed by a sludge pump 7. On the other hand, cleaning water is spurted to the upper and the lower part of the chain body 20 which is engaged with an idle sprocket wheel 25 from a cleaning device, e.g. a cleaning nozzle 31 as a corrosion factor removing means 3 arranged at a position where the flights 27 are pulled out of the water on the return path side into the atmosphere. Thus the sludge sticking to the chain body 20 is cleaned to prevent the chain body 20 from becoming corroded.
