PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To read an output image which is faithful to an original by preventing the occurrence of crosstalks between output signals of 4-division photoelectric conversion elements employed in an image reader. SOLUTION: A left side odd number component image signal (ODDL) outputted from an output terminal OS 1 of a 4-channel output CCD (4-division photoelectric conversion element) 34 is given to an amplifier 131, a left side even number component image signal (EVENL) outputted from an output terminal OS 2 of the 4-channel output CCD 34 is given to the amplifier 131, a right side odd number component image signal (ODDR) outputted from an output terminal OS 3 of the 4-channel output CCD 34 is given to the amplifier 132, and a right side even number component image signal (EVENR) outputted from an output terminal OS 4 of the 4-channel output CCD 34 is given to the amplifier 132. The amplifiers 131, 132 respectively multiplex the left side image signals and the right side image signals, and a high-speed scanner control application (ASIC) corrects the left side and right side signals.
