PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To extract feature variables of a picture adapted to the similar sense of a man by using color spaces divided into the areas of units adapted to the sense of colors, which the man has. SOLUTION: When an inquiry picture is inputted through a U/I part 151, a feature extraction engine 152 specifies colors for respective pixels constituting the picture, specifies the area where the respective pixels correspond to bins in an HSV color space and counts the number of pixels corresponding to the respective bins. When the processing terminates on all the pixels, the number of pixels for the respective bins is normalized, the histogram of the color is generated and it is extracted as the feature variables of the picture. When the picture is retrieved by using the histogram, retrieval engine 153 compares the corresponding bins in the color histogram of the inquiry picture and the color histogram of a retrieval object and the similar degree of the picture is obtained. Since all the bins have features that they are close to the color sense of the man, the obtained picture is adapted to the sense of the man. |
