PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent transfer defects, owing to a stepped part of a surface potential on a photoreceptor, as a result of the large transfer current sharply flowing on the photoreceptor. SOLUTION: During the time while a leading edge side margin of a transfer paper sheet is transported on a transfer position, the image forming device is allowed to increase the transfer output up to the specified the stationary output value, and then, to gradually reduce the transfer output to the non- transfer time output value while a trailing end margin of the transfer paper sheet is transported on the transfer position.
