PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To attain panorama photographing by displaying a contour image of a picture being a source of panorama synthesis so as to photographing an object while confirming an overlap area with that of an adjacent picture. SOLUTION: A panorama picture is generated by using a moving state detection means 112 that detects a moving state of the electronic still camera in a photographing state, a means 109 that extracts a contour of the picture obtained through photographing to display an extracted contour picture on a display section, and a means that forms background of the extracted contour picture for a transparent area, synthesizes a monitor object image photographed for panorama synthesis with the area and displays the synthesized picture on the display section.
