(ACRYLIC COPOLYMER, RESIN COMPOSITION CONTAINING THE POLYMER AND COATING COMPOSITION

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solvent-type resin composition, especially a resin composition for solvent-type coating material and a new copolymer therefor capable of achieving high solid content and low solution viscosity as well as excellent weather resistance. SOLUTION: The objective (meth)acrylic copolymer is composed of (a) 20-60 wt.% of a cyclohexanedimethanol mono(meth)acrylate monomer unit, (b) 0.5-10 wt.% of a vinyl monomer unit containing piperidine skeleton and (c) 79.5-30 wt.% of other vinyl monomer unit. The copolymer has a hydroxy value of 40-200 mgKOH/g and a weight-average molecular weight(Mw) of 1,000-50,000.
