PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve protection of a packaged object and facilitate packaging while securing good handleability even for a relatively heavy object. SOLUTION: Where a water heater 1 is to be packaged, protective trays 2 comprising assembly of an expanded polystyrene cushion 21 and a corrugated fiberboard outer packaging material 22 are fitted over upper and lower ends of the heater 1, respectively. A periphery of the protective tray is made to protrude by a predetermined amount from a periphery of the water heater. Both protective trays and the entire heater are covered by a bag-like film 3 having heat-shrinkability, and the film is heat-shrunk thereby integrally holding both trays and the water heater. A thickness of the film is specified to have strength to a load more than a weight of the heater, so that the heater can be carried by holding both sides of the upper protective tray. Cushioning ability can be improved by opening a gap between an intermediate region 1c of the heater and an intermediate part 31 of the film. |
