PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a communication terminal with satisfactory user friendliness by allowing a user to assign operating method to a desired key. SOLUTION: When an external key 39 is depressed at the arrival of an incoming call, the communication terminal can receive the incoming call, and when the key 39 is depressed during a speech, the terminal can interrupt the phone call. When the user depresses the external key 39 for one second or longer, the function set by the user can be executed. The function set by the user can be selected from an incoming call tone silencing mode, a mobile mode or a message memo setting or the like.
