PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a polymer microsphere comprising a small amount of coexisting by-product fine particles caused by emulsion polymerization, having a narrow particle diameter distribution close to a monodispersed system, suitably usable in a wide field of toner, spacer, cosmetic, tacky agent, etc. SOLUTION: This polymer microsphere is obtained by subjecting at least one water-insoluble radical-polymerizable monomer to aqueous suspension polymerization in the presence of a lipophilic nonionic surfactant and a nonionic water-soluble polymer and has 20-500μm average particle diameter. Preferably the lipophilic nonionic surfactant has a mode state of 1-10 HLB.
