DIGITAL BROADCASTING RECEIVER HAVING ALARM FUNCTION

PURPOSE: A digital broadcasting receiver having an alarm function is provided to make a telephone bell ring at a reserved time, by setting an alarm time and driving a modem in the receiver so that the modem can be connected to a telephone set at the set alarm time. CONSTITUTION: A modem(15) is connected to a telephone set(20). A key input part(11) is adapted to input the alarm time and a telephone number which performs an alarm function. The inputted alarm time and telephone number are stored in a memory of a controller(13). The controller(13) checks the alarm time set in the memory based on a current time provided by a timer(12). If the current time matches the set alarm time, the controller(13) drives the modem(15) to generate a bell sound at the telephone set(20) which corresponds to the stored telephone number. An audio memory(14) sends out a voice message for an alarm call to the telephone set(20) via the modem(15) when the modem(15) is connected to the telephone set(20).
