PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent the adhesion of sludge and others to a filter membrane and to peel off deposits effectively by a method in which the upper and lower end parts of a waterproofing lattice-shaped fabric sheet are fitted to upper and lower support members, the tips are machine-sewn and supported, and vertical slits are formed to the neighborhoods of the tips of the end parts. SOLUTION: A bio-treatment liquid is supplied from a supply pipe to a sludge separation tank 21. Raw liquid is introduced from the inlet 22 of a plane membrane separator 11 into a rectangular casing 17. The raw liquid is suctionfiltered by flat membranes 13 evacuated by a discharge means connected with a discharge pipe 20 while being passed upward through a raw liquid channel 15 between the flat membranes 13 by the air lift effect of gas supplied from an air diffusing means 16. The side of a cleaning member 1 oscillated by the supplied gas is contacted with the surfaces of the membranes 13 to prevent the adhesion of sludge and others. The member 1 is formed by forming numbers of slits in the vertical direction of a sheet part whose upper and lower end parts are supported by each support member 6a, 6b.
