PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable balancing to be conducted without detaching a damper from a pivot portion, by attaching the damper through the pivot portion to an exhaust outlet, which also functions as a valve seat, of a tubular body receiving an exhaust gas, and by mounting to the damper a detachable weight for adjusting a seating force. SOLUTION: An exhaust counterflow preventing device 1 has an exhaust inlet 4 that is formed by the inner surface of a hole in an end plate 2 and the bonded portion of a tubular body 3 having, for example, a circular cross-section. The exhaust inlet 4 is connected through an exhaust pipe to an exhaust outlet of the internal combustion engine. The tubular body 3 of the exhaust counterflow preventing device 1 is cut approximately at 45 degrees at its outlet end, thereby forming an exhaust outlet 7. The exhaust outlet 7 also functions as a valve seat on which a valve portion 9 of a damper 8 is seated. A pivot portion 15 swingably supports the damper 8. Two annular weights 35, 36 are fixed to the tilted top surface of the valve portion 9 by using a weld bolt 34 attached thereto. At the end opposite to the valve portion 9, a weight 11 for adjusting a seating force is attached such that the weight 11 is positionally adjustable along a slotted hole 26 through which a bolt 28 extends.
