PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To strongly construct a greening concrete block provided with a vegetative space, for constructing a retaining wall such as a river bulkhead. SOLUTION: A greening concrete block has a vegetative space 12 formed therein at a location closer to the front surface thereof. The vegetative space 12 opens at the upper end of the block largely in a transverse direction, and is bifurcated at an intermediate portion thereof. Bifurcated ends of the space 12 are formed into two of right and left downward taper holes 13 at its lower end, whereby the space vertically penetrates. A female screw 14 is buried in an upper surface between the vegetative space 12 and the rear surface at a location corresponding to each of the downward taper holes 13. Then, the blocks thus formed are piled up like zigzag steps, and an anchoring bolt 18 inserted into a bottom plug 17 fitted into each of the right and left taper holes 13 is screwed into the female screw 14 of each of the two blocks at the lower step. Thus, the upper and lower blocks are directly linked to each other and the right and left blocks are indirectly linked to each other, to thereby construct a strong retaining wall. Further, flowering trees and flowering grasses are vegetated in the vegetative spaces, to thereby render the retaining wall environment-friendly.
