PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an outdoor machine for a split air conditioner, which is unified in a wind velocity distribution and improved in ventilating performance, by securing sufficiently a distance between a heat exchanger and a shielding plate for a duct. SOLUTION: A duct formed between a heat exchanger 3 and a shielding plate 4 is provided with a wind velocity unifying part 13 and a distance between the heat exchanger 30 and the shielding plate 4 in the wind velocity unifying part 13 is specified so that the wind speed of air passing through the part of the heat exchanger 3, which is faced to the wind velocity unifying part 13, is equalized substantially to that of air passing through the other part of the heat exchanger 3, which is opposed to the fan 1. According to this method, air, flowing through the wind velocity unifying part 13 upon sucking the same into the fan 1 through the heat exchanger 3 when the fan 1 is rotated, is guided smoothly into the fan 1 whereby the distribution of wind velocity, passing through the heat exchanger 3, is unified and ventilating performance can be improved.
