PURPOSE: Substituted thiopyridines are provided, which are used as intermediate for preparing a herbicide. CONSTITUTION: Substituted thiopyridines have general formula (I), wherein n means 1 or 2,R(1) means chlorine, C1-C3 fluoralkyl, nitro or methylsulfonyl; a non-substituted or halogen, C1-C4-alkoxy, C1-C4 aloxycarbonyl, I-(C1-C4-alkylamino) carbonyl, cyano or nitro substituted C1-C10-Alkyl, C2-C10-alkenyl or C2-C10 alkinyl radical, a C3-C8-cycloalkyl radical or a non-substituted in the phenyl part or hydrogen, C1-C3-alkyl, C1-C3-alkoxy, trifluormethyl, cyano or nitro substituted C1-C4-alkylene phenyl, phenyl or naphthyl radical.
