A first proxy server (56) connected to the initiating party requests a COP connection to a second proxy server (66) connected to a responding party, and a COP connection is maintained between the two proxy servers during the retrieval of objects from responding party. An Independent claim is also included for a transmission system utilising this proxy server/COP connection method.
