A system for providing simulated three-dimensional viewing from a conventional movie screen, television, or computer monitor which enables the viewer to select either two-dimensional or three-dimensional viewing. The system comprises a video projector (20), a prism (30), a pair of optical filters, a reflecting mirror (50), and a viewing screen (60). The prism separates projected light from the source into two separate images. A film of polarized material is placed proximate to the prism so that the two images are linearly polarized orthogonally to one another. The two images are then directed to a mirror that is preferably polarized and then directed to a video screen. A pair of glasses containing lenses having polarizers parallel to the polarizations of respective images are provided. |
