PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To easily produce an EL(electroluminescence) display device which enables display of arbitrary characters and patterns. SOLUTION: This EL display device 1 is constituted by arranging a light emitting layer 4 and a high dielectric substance layer 5 on a transparent electrode layer 2 and successively arranging scattered electrode layers 7 arranged by scattering in the island shape, an anisotropic conductive film 11 and a rear surface electrode layer 12 on the high dielectric substance layer 5. When the rear surface electrode layer 12 is pressed toward the scattered electrode layers 7, the rear surface electrode layer 12 and the scattered electrode layers 7 are conducted via the anisotropic conductive film 11 on the pressed portion. When voltage is impressed between the rear surface electrode layer 12 and the transparent electrode layer 2, only the light emitting layer 4 of the pressed portion may be made to partially emit light. Then, even if a user does not mold the rear surface electrode in conformity with a desired shape, the desired shape may be made to emit light and to make display simply by pushing the layer and, therefore, the display device which enables the user to display the desired shape under light emission may be easily obtained.
