Substituted vinylamines of the general formula <FORM:0917436/IV (b)/1> wherein A is a hydrogen atom or a methyl radical, B is a methyl, phenyl or chlorophenyl radical, X is a carbalkoxy, acyl or methyl group, Y is an alkoxy radical or is a methyl radical when X is a methyl and n is 0 or in the case where X and Y together denote C2H4, n is 1 or 2, are made by reacting a compound of the formula:- <FORM:0917436/IV (b)/2> wherein X, Y and n are as above, or a corresponding metal compound or Grignard compound thereof, with an amide chloride of the formula:- <FORM:0917436/IV (b)/3> wherein A and B are as above and Z is Cl-or (PO2Cl2)-, the reaction being carried out in the presence of an acid-binding agent when the first reaction component is not used in the form of a metal compound or Grignard compound. Where an acid-binding agent is used it may be an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal, a Friedel-Crafts catalyst, an organic base or an alkali metal or alkaline earth metal hydride, amide, carbonate, bicarbonate, hydroxide, alcoholate or salt of an organic acid. The vinylamines in which Y is -OC2H5, n is 0 and X is methyl, acetyl or carbethoxy, are new. Examples describe the preparation of dimethylaminomethylene-malonic acid diethyl ester; N - phenyl - N - methylaminomethylene-malonic acid diethyl ester; dimethyl-aminomethylene - acetoacetic acid ethyl ester; m - chlorophenylaminomethylene-malonic acid diethyl ester; dimethylaminomethylene-cyclohexanone; dimethylaminomethylene-cyclopentanone and dimethylaminomethylenemethyl ethyl ketone. |
