PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a database connection management method/device which controls the management of connection information by an application program to reduce the load of connection processing to a database and can easily design an application to assure the atomic properties for the entire work and also to provide a storage medium which stores a database connection management program. SOLUTION: The connection information showing the connection between an application program and a database management system and the management information consisting of a connection state are held and managed with consistency secured between both information. A request is received from the application program, and the connection of the application program to a database or the use, preservation or release of the application program is processed based on the received request. Then the connection information and state which are obtained by the above processing are held as the management information.
