PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To conduct simple, highly accurate sensorless control of a synchronous motor, with only two current sensors, regardless of the presence of salient polarity. SOLUTION: In this method (apparatus), the angle of a rotorθ' is computed based on detected current values In-fb, Iv-fb and voltage command values Vu, Vv of two phases of a three-phase brushless DC motor 1 and by using the computed angle of a rotorθ', the motor 1 is controlled with 180-degree sine wave. In this control, the actual angle of a rotorθof the motor 1 is inferred, based on the computed angle of the rotorθ', and by using this inferred angle of the rotorθthe motor 1 is controlled with a 180-degree sine wave. Thus, simple and highly accurate sensorless control of the motor 1 can be performed with only two current sensors, regardless of the presence of salient polarity.
