A door frame jamb assembly for holding door, is attachable to door frame opening 12. A jamb portion 24 is formed of wood and is attachable to the door frame opening 12 and has an interior end and an exterior end. A solid non-hollow vinyl extender portion 26 is formed of cellular resin and has a first end and a second end. The first end has a notch 28 formed therein for receiving the exterior ends of jamb portion 24. The exterior end of jamb portion 24 is firmly attached to notch 28 of vinyl extender portion 26. A solid non-hollow brick moulding portion 44 is formed of cellular resin and has a notch 48 formed therein. The second end 46 of vinyl extender portion 26 is received in and is firmly attached to notch 48 formed in brick moulding portion 44. A vinyl attachment piece 30 is firmly secured to jamb portion 24 and vinyl extender portion 44. A flexible foam weatherstrip 38 is firmly secured between jamb portion 24 and vinyl extender portion 26.
