<p>An apparatus and method for enhancing recovery of oil from producing and dormant wells. The invention embodied in an apparatus (10) in which brine is mixed with a small amount of oil, and then passed through an alternating current flowing between a pair of spaced apart electrodes (32, 36). The invention is also embodied in a method which shutting in the second well, injecting hydrogen, hot water and steam into the formation via the first well, monitoring formation pressure at the second well until a pressure increase is detected, and recovering fluids including petroleum from said formation via the second well.</p> |
