ANCHOR POSITIONING INSERT

A removable anchor positioning insert (10) for forming a recess in a face (16) of a concrete structure (14) and simultaneously positioning an anchor (12) within the recess. The insert includes a resilient body (22) having an upper surface (24) connected to an arcuate lower surface (26) by front and rear surfaces (28, 30). An anchor placement channel (42) extends within the body intermediate the upper and lower surface and includes a channel apex (44) connecting first and second receiving bores (46, 48) which extend in a downward direction from the channel apex toward the lower surface. A slot (40) extends downwardly from the placement channel to the lower surface. The receiving bores include engagement surfaces (54, 56) for engaging outer surfaces of the anchor legs (62, 64). Front and rear stabilizing wings (82, 84) extend outwardly from the front and rear surfaces of the body adjacent the placement channel front and rear outlets (50, 52), defining front and rear bearing surfaces (92, 94) engaging side surfaces of the anchor to prevent rotation.
